New York State of Mind

The Big Apple, The City that Never Sleeps.  If you have never been, you are missing out.  Join us on this excursion to the City of all Cities, New York, New York!  Immerse yourself in New York City for five minutes, and you'll see why it's like no other place on earth.  Only here will you experience those sublime moments that New York City is famous for.  On a sightseeing tour of New York City you’ll see many Manhattan highlights in addition to many other places like Central Park, United Nation Building, Rockefeller Center, and much more.  During your free time, you may want to take in one of the sights you have been wanting to see like Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, one of the Museum’s, take some time to shop or a Broadway Play.

Culinary Treats

Upon arrival in New York City, we’ll take in the fine dining at The View, a revolving rooftop restaurant with an unbeatable atmosphere and scenic panoramic views of Midtown, New York City.  We’ll enjoy lunch at Nathan’s on Coney Island.  In 1916, Polish immigrant Nathan Handwerker started a nickel hot dog stand on Coney Island with a $200 loan from two friends and his wife’s secret spice recipe.  Nathan’s is the most famous hot dog in the world, with restaurants across the globe, products in every supermarket in America and millions of fans. And yes, the original Coney Island restaurant is still there at the corner of Surf and Stillwell – home of the annual Hot Dog Eating Contest. We’ll also enjoy dinner in Chinatown.  In Brooklyn enjoy dinner at the original Junior’s.  A traditional Pastrami sandwich, fries, soft drinks, a slice of their famous cheesecake and an egg cream for dessert!  Our final dinner in New York City is in the heart of Times Square at Ellen’s Stardust Diner.  This Multi-level 1950’s themed diner is home of the singing waitstaff.

Coney Island

We’re going to tour the People’s Playground at Luna Park at Coney Island.  Explore memories, old and new, with a presentation and slide-show just for our group.  You’ll also ride the historic Carousel.  A Nathan’s Hot Dog and Beverage Lunch is included.  Then, for a unique experience, we are going to enjoy an Authentic Coney Island Sideshow by the Seashore.  This is the last permanently house venue in the USA where you can experience the thrill of a traditional ten-in-one- circus sideshow. They’re here, they’re real and they’re alive!  Think about it, the ten-in-one circus sideshow is another Coney Island gift to culture along with other Brooklyn Beach inventions like the hot dog and roller coaster.

Brooklyn

You’ll have a blast visiting famous and historic places in Brooklyn including the Promenade, the Hotel St. George and the Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims, all in Brooklyn Heights. See the Barclays Center where the Brooklyn Nets play basketball. See Grand Army Plaza, the ornamental plaza outside of Prospect Park which is Brooklyn’s version of Central Park. Visit the original location of Ebbets Field where the Brooklyn Dodgers once played. Stroll the grounds of Green-Wood Cemetery where some of the most famous and infamous are interred. Visit famous Brooklyn movie locations like The Godfather, Moonstruck, As Good As It Gets and more!

Remember 9/11

We’ll visit the National September 11 Memorial Museum which serves as the country’s principal institution for examining the implications of the events of 9/11, documenting the impact of those events and ‘exploring the continuing significance of September 11, 2001.  The Museum’s 110,000 square feet of exhibition space is located within the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center site - telling the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts.  The lives of every victim of 2001 and 1993 attacks will be commemorated as visitors have the opportunity to learn about the men, women and children who died.  The monumental artifacts of the Museum provide a link to the events of 9/11, while presenting intimate stories of loss, compassion, reckoning, and recovery that are central to telling the story of the attacks and the aftermath.  We’ll also visit One World Trade Center Observatory.  Ascend to the top of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.  On the 100th floor of the Observatory, you will experience expansive, 360-degree views in all directions, taking in the iconic sights, surrounding waters and panoramic views of the city and beyond.
