Hudson Valley Region of New York

Enjoy a 2-hour tour of West Point featuring History and Tradition. The West Point guide will board the bus for a combined bus and walking tour which tells the story of West Point, its role in the Revolution, its famous history as well as stories about graduates who shaped our nation. The tour makes stops at the Cadet Chapel, and Trophy Point with the million-dollar view overlooking the Hudson River. You will also explore the West Point Cemetery and Old Cadet Chapel built in 1837.  A local guide will join us as we travel to Hyde Park to tour the FDR Home and FDR Library Museum.  Franklin D. Roosevelt created the country’s first Presidential Library on the grounds of his childhood home, Springwood – all along the Hudson River. This morning you will tour the home. The FDR Museum tells the story of our country’s only 4-time elected president and captures the incredible events of that time.  Relax aboard a scenic cruise on the Hudson River! You will have clear views of historic and picturesque Hudson River lighthouses, waterfront millionaire’s mansions, quaint, sleepy villages surrounded by the natural beauty of vineyards, orchards and scenic preservation sites.  Before we depart the Hudson Valley area, we will make a stop at the Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge offering magnificent Hudson River Valley views.  It’s the perfect farewell to the Hudson Valley.

Catskill Mountains of New York State

Breathe in the country air as we spend a night at the Roman-themed Villa Roma Resort nestled in the Catskill Mountains.  We’ll stop at the Bethel Woods Museum - a destination for anyone who lived through the 60’s. Bethel Woods is the site of the 1969 Woodstock Concert. This is where vibrant and interactive exhibits celebrate the 1969 Woodstock Music and Art Fair as well as the entire decade that it came to represent. It’s a magnificent colorful flashback!  You will have a delicious lunch at The Dancing Cat Distillery- which has won the 2018 DRAMMIE AWARD for the Most Exciting/Innovative Whiskey Producer/Distillery. You will enjoy a tour and tasting here, including their award-winning famous Peace Vodka.

Sleepy Hollow Halloween

A local guide will join us as we travel into Tarrytown for a full day that should be pretty spooky and spectacular!  We’ll start with a stop at Opus 40 -a unique outdoor sculpture garden. In 1938, Harvey Fite, purchased an abandoned quarry in the town of Saugerties, NY. During a period of 37 years, he created the monumental world-acclaimed 6½-acre bluestone sculpture now known as Opus 40. Over time he acquired additional land and built several structures, including a beautiful large wood and stone home, a studio, garage, blacksmith shop and the Quarryman’s Museum, which houses his unique collection of indigenous tools.  A picnic lunch at Opus 40 is includedWashington Irving’s Sunnyside is a charming historic house on 10 acres along the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York.  It was the home of this American author, best known for his short stories, such as "Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”   Enjoy dinner at Hudson Anchor Restaurant located in historic Sleepy Hollow and has views of the Tarrytown Lighthouse and Hudson River.  The menu offers guests classic, contemporary seafood-centric and land specialties served in a warm nautical themed space.  After dinner, you will enjoy a reading of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Master storytellers offer dramatic performances of Washington Irving’s classic ghostly tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, featuring the Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, Brom Bones, and Katrina Van Tassel. Flavored with live spooky organ music, the spellbinding storytelling captivates all audiences.  Continuing with the Halloween theme you will visit The Great Jack-O-Lantern Blaze! Discover a breathtaking display of more than 7,000 illuminated Jack O’ Lanterns—all designed and hand-carved on site by a team of artisans!

Other Sights that are sure to Delight

Our welcome Dinner is at the Music Box Supper Club and the menu is Americana based with fresh twists and hints of Chef Dennis’s training in the Caribbean.  We’ll make a stop at the Flight 93 National Memorial which is located at the site of the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, which was hijacked in the September 11 attack.  Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard this flight, the attack on the U.S.Capitol was thwarted.  Visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium where the animal exhibits are divided into regions of the world.  Currently there are 8 such regions at the Zoo and Aquarium.  Our farewell dinner is at Schmidt’s Restaurant in Columbus where you will find a fun and lively German eatery in a historic livery stable with live oom pah pah music!  Before returning home, we will stop at one of the most visited outdoor museums in the Country, Conner Prairie.  Have some time to explore, interact and learn about this place listed on the National Register of Historic Places and recreates 19th century life along the White River.
