It's a Grand Time on Mackinac Island

Enjoy a Grand Experience with a 2 night stay at the Grand Hotel & the Grand Hotel Season Closing!

The Grand Hotel - Truly grand, for more than a century. America's Original Grand Hotel.

Grand Hotel has always embraced its rich history, but kept up well with the times. Today, guests enjoy modern amenities while the hotel’s original architecture and charm have been tastefully preserved. Contributing greatly to the hotel’s ambience is the relaxed atmosphere of Mackinac Island, where cars are not allowed and the horse and carriage and bicycle are favored modes of transportation.

Grand Hotel Season Closing

Every season at the Grand Hotel has to come to an end and you’re invited to join in the unique experience as they close their doors for the winter months. On the second day you will begin the Close the Grand experience. There is a casual dinner buffet on Sunday evening and a continental breakfast on Monday morning. at 3:00pm on Sunday, everyone will gather in the Parlor and on the porch for the Parade of Chairs as they remove the rockers from the front porch. At 4:30pm Bob Tagatz, the hotel’s resident historian and concierge, will do a entertaining presentation explaining the process the hotel goes through to close, as well as fun facts and interesting information from the season. Sunday evening is casual attire as they clean out the pantries and wine cellar; come ready to eat, drink and be merry at dinner. All unoccupied guest rooms will be open to explore. The next morning you rise and shine and you will see a huge transformation in the lower lobby and public areas as they fulfill their closing. Join the staff in the Parlor for the “ringing of the bell” a special time with the Musser family and staff. Join us for this unique experience as we close the Grand!
