On a guided tour at the Rogers Street Fishing Village and Great Lakes Coast Guard Museum you will see exhibits including an 1886 historic lighthouse, shipwreck displays and artifacts and, of course, commercial fishing exhibits.  There is even artifacts from the Rouse Simmons, the legendary Christmas tree ship lost with all hands during a furious storm on November 23, 1912.  Take the S.S. Badger Ferry from Manitowoc across Lake Michigan to Ludington, Michigan.  Discover exciting adventures when you cruise on the 410’ S.S. Badger.  This is a relaxing 4-hour trip with plenty to see and do aboard the ship including games, free movies, satellite television, shopping in the gift shop or just strolling or lounging on the spacious outside decks.  Meals are available in the buffet restaurant and there is also a deli style snack bar.  You’ll board Dune Buggies for a 7 Mile dune tour ride which lasts approximately 40 minutes.  You will be hosted by knowledgeable drivers who understand the history and environment of the constantly changing sand mountains.  This is a thrilling experience!  You’ll go down the sweeps into the valleys, drive past sparkling Silver Lake, and see Lake Michigan’s lovely beach.  We’ll take a guided riding tour of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore - Miles of sand beach, bluffs that tower 450’ above Lake Michigan, lush forests, clear inland lakes, unique flora and fauna make up the natural world of Sleeping Bear Dunes. High dunes afford spectacular views across the lake. An island lighthouse, US Life-Saving Service stations, coastal villages, and picturesque farmsteads reflect the park’s rich maritime, agricultural, and recreational history.  The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center is a visitor center for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary, featuring exciting exhibits for all ages.  Explore Shipwreck Central, located in the center's main hall and includes a full-size replica wooden Great Lakes schooner and shipwreck where visitors can walk the decks, feel a Great Lakes storm, and touch the massive timbers of the boat resting on the lake bottom ... without getting wet!

Majestic Marvels and Unexpected Michigan

We’ll take a riding guided tour of the famous “Mushroom Houses” of self-taught builder Earl Young.  The homes were built starting in 1919, and continuing into the 1970’sl.  There are over 2 dozen creations using indigenous materials.  Next, Castle Farms invites your to visit their beautiful castle and gardens, discover the story of this historic property built in 1918, and learn fascinating details about its restoration.  A tour of Castle Farms promises a fascinating adventure into the past. Built in 1918, this beautiful French Renaissance castle offers groups a guided walking tour of the soaring towers, stone buildings, and sweeping gardens inspired by European design. Vintage museum quality collections of castles, toys, and WWI artifacts are displayed throughout the buildings, along with royal family memorabilia. The Castle’s Outdoor Model Railroad with more than 70 G-scale trains operating on 2,500 feet of track, is the largest in the state of Michigan.  On a golf cart tour of Lavender Hill Farm you’ll experience the magic of being surrounded by the regal beauty and scents of purple and green waves of lavender.  Lavender Hill Farm gives visitors of all ages and unique opportunity to relax, explore and indulge.  Step into the 1770’s at Colonial Michilimackinac’s reconstructed fort and fur-trading outpost. Watch Redcoats fire muskets and cannons, smell bread baking, meet Colonial Villagers. Explore a dozen buildings inside this National Historic Landmark.  The Jack Pine Lumberjack Show is celebrating it's 11th anniversary!  Nine-Time World Champion Logroller, Dan McDonough continues to bring you the finest in competitive lumberjack shows.  Shows are approximately an hour long, delivered in a competition formation, in which the audience is divided up into two rival logging camps, each camp cheering for their lumberjack.  It demonstrates the turn of the century skills of lumberjack including chopping, sawing, axe throwing, cross-cut sawing and logrolling.  There is even a chain saw carving demonstrations.  The show educates the audience on the rich history of Michigan's logging past.


Mackinac Island

We will ferry to Mackinac Island for a day on an Island which has no motorized vehicles.  Upon arrival on Mackinac Island, we will board horse drawn carriages for a tour of the Island.  Prepare yourself for a tour like no other!  What you will experience is by far the most enjoyable and authentic way to view the Island.  Stops include Surrey Hills Museum which displays historic carriages including a horse-drawn hearse, still used today, and an antique fire department pumper.  Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory where you will discover life's most beautiful insects and Arch Rock for a short viewing of a beautiful natural limestone formation.  Arch Rock is one of the most photographed spots on Mackinac Island.  The afternoon is free for you to spend however you would like on the Island.  Some ideas might be to visit the Grand Hotel, relax on the waterfront, enjoy some shopping on Main Street, or rent a bicycle or horse and explore the Island as you wish.
