Harrah’s Casino, and two blocks from the Aquarium This hotel offers many great amenities including an outdoor pool and a fitness center.

Day 1

1:30pm Approximate arrival at Milwaukee Amtrak Station – Board Train 338 to Chicago

Day 2

Spend most of the day viewing the scenery go by as we continue on our way via Amtrak to New Orleans.
Today, the Amtrak will take us through Tennessee & Mississippi
3:30pm Arrive in New Orleans We will be picked up by New Orleans Tour Bus Company and taken to the Double Tree Hotel.
Evening free to enjoy.

Day 3

Optional Day Trip New Orleans City Tour and Paddlewheeler Creole Queen River Cruise $130 per person (minimum 25 passengers to operate)
TBA Depart for 3 hour tour of New Orleans. You will ride past beautiful Jackson Square, St Louis Cathedral, Cabildo and Pontalba buildings, you will continue on past the French Market and the U.S. Mint. Next you will arrive on Esplanade Ave, the outermost boundary of the French Quarter. You’ll visit St Louis III Cemetery, often called “the city of the dead” because of it’s above ground tombs.
Your tour guide will give a local’s chronology of events leading up to Hurricane Katrina and the days immediately following. The next part of the journey takes you to the old town of Carrollton and the route of the St Charles streetcar.
1:30pm Boarding begins for The Paddlewheeler Creole Historical River Cruise
The historical cruise features a historian who will entertain you with a detailed narration of New Orleans’ historical landmarks and river lore. You will cruise and experience the 1815 Battle of New Orleans at the Jean Laffite National Historical Park where you can disembark and learn about this decisive battle that changes American History. Lunch buffet included.

Day 4

Optional Day Trip Louisiana Swampland Tour $104 per person (20 passenger minimum to operate)

The Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour is the only swamp tour located in a National Historical Park & Preserve. Native guide will share the legends and folklore of Louisiana’s still untamed wilderness. You will be amazed at both the swamp’s natural beauty and wildlife that live around every bend of the bayous. Lunch is included at Restaurant Des Familes. This beautiful restaurant is nestled amongst live oaks with a
beautiful view of the historic Bayou.

Day 5

Optional Side trip Oak Alley Plantation Tour $100 per person ( 40 passenger minimum)
TBA Depart for Oak Alley Plantation Tour
Oak Alley Plantation is the Grande Dame of the Great River Road.
At the time Oak Alley was built, the River Region sugar industry was flourishing, and a chain of stately plantations and their homes lined the banks of the Mississippi. Too many of these plantation homes since have been devoured by the passage of time, exposure to the elements and mankind's struggle to move on, but Oak Alley remains as a testimonial to the old South's golden age. There is a simple authenticity about her grandeur that reassures and frees the mind to contemplate and appreciate all facets of her existence. She offers the enchantment of one way of life without compromising the significance of another. Box lunch is included.

Day 6

11:00am Luggage out in lobby ready to depart for the Amtrak Station
1:45pm Train departs for journey home

Day 7

11:50am Train arrives at Milwaukee Amtrak Station
Badger coach will be waiting to take passengers to the Park & Rides

Important Train Information

*Baggage Allowances: Amtrak allows (2) two pieces per person of luggage that can be hand-carried on board. Luggage that is checked in at the beginning of the trip can not be accessed during our journey. If you have any medicines or pills that need to be available, please pack them in your carry-on luggage. Checked-in luggage can not exceed 50 lbs and is limited to 1 suitcase per person. Carry on baggage cannot exceed 28’X22”X14”.

*Dining: There is a dining car where we will be eating our meals. During the day hours there is a “deli” on the lower deck of the observation car where sandwiches, beer, soda, wine and snacks are sold. The escort will talk with the train’s conductor hoping for group seating for meals but this is not guaranteed. You will need to make reservations for breakfast and dinner when it is announced on the train to do so. You are allowed to take a cooler on board with you but they will not give you ice on board the train.

*Train Cars: There is a glass-enclosed observation car that offers a panoramic view of our travel. There is limited seating on this car.

*Smoking on Train: Amtrak does not allow smoking on the train. When the train stops – they will

allow the smokers to get off and have a quick smoke
