Exclusive Experiences to Enhance Your Vacation!

In Hershey, we will tour the Dearden House.  As of 1821, Glendale and its surrounding property was owned by the Shenk family who sold the property to Hershey Estates in the mid-1930’s.  In March 1935, Glendale opened as a student home for boys in grades 6-12.  Glendale served as a senior division home until it was sold to Richard Purcell and Milt Purcell. The brothers acquired the property rights to the former student home from the Milton Hershey School.  The Purcell brothers shared a vision of creating an everlasting tribute to William E. Dearden and alumnus widely regarded as a legacy to Milton Hershey and his work.  Their dream was to see the Dearden House become a hub of activity for alumni, staff the local community, and most importantly, the people whom Mr. Hershey built his school for - the children.

In Lancaster we will experience the Amish lifestyle first hand as we spend an evening with an Amish family on their Amish farm.  This is a rare opportunity for true interaction with an Amish family!  Sit down to an authentic Pennsylvania Dutch meal served at their home in the Carriage house where they hold church services.  The family will be visiting with you while you are enjoying dinner.  Following your hardy dinner, the owner of the farm will get up and start answering your questions so you can learn more about their lifestyles.  Then, Priscilla will invite those who wish to see their home to join her for an informal tour of the first floor and cold cellar.  Up to four generations of the family participate during the evening and they are there to converse and have fun with you.  You can also watch as mules and cows graze in the fields, or you can play with the grandchildren, wander about the farm, enjoy the sunset from a rocking chair on the porch, and listen to the neighbor’s buggies clip-clopping down the road while enjoying this delightful unbelievably peaceful and relaxing experience.

Pennsylvania’s Dutch Countryside

Pennsylvania Amish Country is a picturesque landscape that must be witnessed in person to be fully appreciated. Rolling hills with lush grasses and crops, farms with windmills dotting the horizon, and horse and buggies sharing the road remind you that things are simpler here in Lancaster County.  We have a local guide who will take us on a tour of Lancaster City, originally called HickoryTown, but was renamed after the English City of Lancaster by native John Wright.  It’s symbol, the red rose, is from the House of Lancaster.  Then our guide will take us off-the-beaten-path, to places you probably wouldn’t find on your own.  You’ll see the beautiful countryside, learn about Lancaster’s local Amish, and ask any of your burning questions to our knowledgeable local guide.  Today we’ll fully discover Amish communities where life moves at a slower pace and centers around time-honored traditions and values.  You’ll find beautiful scenery dotted with one-room schoolhouses and wooden covered bridges, modern farm machinery being pulled behind four-and six-mule teams homemade clothing and quilts gently blowing in the breeze and where you’ll hear the clip-clop of horses’ hooves echoing down quiet country roads.  We will stop at least one craft store, an Amish Miniature Horse Farm, and, of course, an Amish Bakery.  We’ll make a stop in the charming Kitchen Kettle Village! This charming village is located in the heart of Amish Country and features over 40 shops and restaurants!

Strasburg Rail Road

ALL ABOARD the Strasburg Rail Road!  Imagine the thrill of riding through the scenic Amish Countryside pulled by a historic steam locomotive!  This is a genuine thrill for people of all ages.  You can see the train up close before you hop aboard at the Station. Then enjoy the trill as you depart Strasburg for Paradise and the Countryside. Enjoy this 45 minute authentic steam train experience.

Hershey, PA - The “Sweetest Place in Pennsylvania”

A local guide will join us for a tour of Hershey, PA.  See the cute chocolate street lights, the bushes trimmed to spell “HERSHEY” and the factory where the magic happens.  You’ll also learn the inspiring story and legacy of Milton and Catherine Hershey and their dream of building a better life for children in need.  Then, we’ll visit Chocolate World, where the fun, sweetness and adventure await! You’ll be greeted by giant Hershey’s Product Characters as you enter this delightful world of food, shops, and entertainment devoted to all things chocolate!  Chocolate World is where we’ll do some chocolate tasting, then you can Make Your Own Candy Bar, you’ll have some time for lunch (at your own expense) and to take the Chocolate Tour and enjoy the 4-D Movie - Chocolate Mystery at your own leisure.

Philadelphia, PA - The “City of Brotherly Love”

A local guide will join us for a day in Philadelphia, the “City of Brotherly Love.”  We’ll stop to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Tour Betsy Ross’ House, and view other sites on a riding tour including Christ Church, Elfreth’s Alley and the Rocky Statue.  A real dining treat is also in store for you as we enjoy lunch at Campo’s - A Philly Experience.  Ambrose and Rose Campo probably never imagined that the little grocery store, and butcher shop they based their lives on in 1947 would still be here almost 70 years later...successful, growing, and continuing traditions and values on which their future flourished.  When Mike Campo says, “That’s not just a sandwich, that’s someone’s meal!  Make it great!” it comes from his heart.  You’ll have a choice of Philly Cheesesteak from fresh cut rib-eye steaks, Italian Hoagie, Turkey Hoagie, and there is even a Vegan and Gluten Free Option.
