Join us for a luncheon cruise down the Rock River aboard the Pride of Oregon Paddlewheel Boat, followed by a trip to the Anderson Japanese Gardens!
Welcome Aboard The Pride of Oregon! A true paddlewheel boat, offers a one-of-a-kind eco-cruise experience on the Rock River. The 102-foot paddlewheels stature allows the Pride of Oregon to skim the surface of the water, barely stirring a wake. Captain Rich pilots the authentic, un-motorized paddlewheel through undeveloped land. This 2-hour, 15 mile river cruise will take us past Lowden State park and under the watchful eye of Chief Black Hawk, the largest concrete monolith in the country. Well have a tasty lunch onboard, menu to be announced.
Next, you'll be awe-struck by the natural beauty and serenity of Anderson Japanese Gardens in Rockford, ranked the top Japanese garden in North America. Take time to explore this 12th-Century-style "pond-strolling" garden, with paths, pools, streams, lanterns, pagodas, waterfalls, and Sukiya-style buildings (guesthouse, gazebo, and teahouse). The "Garden of Reflection" is a contemporary Japanese-inspired garden with original bronze angel sculptures by Sweden's Carl Milles. The Garden Gift Shop sells Japanese imports and garden items. Paths through gardens are not paved and are uneven surfaces.
