Fayette & The Big Springs


We’ll tour historic Fayette, a restored 19th century iron smelting village on the Garden Peninsula in the Fayette State Park. Along the way you will see two of the largest Bays on Lake Michigan, travel through the beautiful Hiawatha National Forest. We’ll take a hand-powered raft across the mystical Big Springs of Michigan in the Palms Book State Park near Indian Lake.


Wild on Wildlife


DeYoung Family Zoo is home to over 400 animals from around the world. The Zoo believes in large natural habitats with real rocks to sun on, trees to climb, grass to roll around on, and ponds to swim in! From exotic to domestic there is sure to be something for everyone. DeYoung Family Zoo is the Home of the Big Cats! They have the Largest Big Cat Family in the Midwest, with over 40 members and growing. These critters are an amazing sight from the Biggest in the world, the Siberian Tiger to the small but outstanding, North American Bobcat. A visit to the zoo is sure to reveal just how amazing and important these animals are, and bring an understanding of our goal of conservation through education. The DeYoung Family Zoo is home to several Eurasian Brown Bears, and North American Black Bears. Home to Wolves, Coyotes, Dingo’s, New Guinea Singing Dogs, Black Back Jackals, Artic Fox, Red Fox, Silver Fox, and Fennec Fox! There is a lot to howl about at the DeYoung Family Zoo! Beauty, Braun, and down right strange our animal family has it all. With members from all over the world you are sure to find some fur-miliar faces. But it’s the unfamiliar ones they can’t wait for you to see!


Pictured Rocks & Waterfalls


This tour takes you to Munising Bay on the south shore of Lake Superior where you will get the chance to see the world famous Pictured Rocks - our country’s first National Lakeshore and the place setting for Longfellow’s epic poem, The Song of Hiawatha. The featured attraction on this tour is a delightful Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise along the shoreline of the greatest freshwater lake in the world where you will see over 15 miles of stunning 100 to 200’ cliffs and rock formations such as Miner’s Castle, Lover’s Leap, Chapel Rock and Rainbow Cave. During your tour you will also visit Munising Falls which is one of the prettiest waterfalls in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.


City Life & Historic Sites


During your Marquette, Michigan sightseeing tour you will learn about the city’s rich history and see many of its magnificent old Victorian homes and red sandstone buildings. You will also see the massive iron ore docks that grace the city’s two deep water harbors. Our local guide, Fred, is a noted local historian and has hosted visitors from all over the world during his 25 years in the tour business. We’ll visit the WWII American Glider Museum which features a 48’ long CG 4A Glider with a 84’ wing span that was built in Iron Mountain during WWII.

Day 1

- Depart for the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan
- Lunch at Schloegel’s Bay View Restaurant
- Tour DeYoung’s Family Zoo
- Spend 2 Nights at the Island Resort & Casino
- New Members receive a total of $40 in Play and Existing Members will receive $10-$200 for day one and two based on past play
- A Total of $10 in Food Vouchers


Day 2

- Travel to the historic Fayette Townsite located on the Garden Peninsula in the Fayette State Park
- Meet a Site Interpreter at the Visitor Center, Tour the Visitor Center
- Walk down the hill to tour the Townsite with the Interpreter
- Free time in historic Fayette
- Travel to Big Springs of Michigan in the Palms Book State Park
- Meet Park Ranger for site interpretation tour
- Hand-Powered Raft Ride over the Big Springs
- Dinner is included at the Hereford & Hops Steakhouse and Brewpub

Day 3

- Visit Munising Falls and visit the on-site Interpretive Center
- Buffet Lunch is included at the Dogpatch Restaurant
- Take a Pictured Rocks Boat Cruise
- Overnight at the White Pine Lodge in Christmas, MI which is located across the parking lot from the Kewadin Casino

Day 4

- Travel to the Michigan Welcome Center
- Depart with a local guide for a sightseeing tour of Marquette, Michigan
- Lunch is included at Donckers Restaurant
- Tour the WWII Glider Museum
- Return home
